Your Role

LKAB Malmtrafik AB is responsible for transporting LKAB's iron ore products from the mines in Kiruna, Malmberget, and Svappavaara to the ports in Luleå and Narvik. The transports are carried out with our own locomotives and wagons. The assignment also includes maintenance of the wagon fleet and operational work at our marshalling yards.

This summer, we are looking for positive and engaged substitutes who want to work as terminal workers at our yards in Kiruna, Svappavaara, and Malmberget. You will be an important part of a team that ensures our trains run safely and efficiently. The work is physical and mostly takes place outdoors, so you need to enjoy using your body and working in all weather conditions.

Your tasks include:

• Loading, unloading, and shunting our train wagons
• Arrival inspection and brake testing of incoming and outgoing trains
• General operator maintenance at our terminal facilities

Before you start working fully, you will undergo a joint training for two weeks during daytime from Monday to Friday. After that, the introduction and training will continue at your terminal. Therefore, do not expect shift work with off weeks until the holiday period starts in June.

What You Bring

• At least 18 years old well before the substitute position starts
• Approved high school grades
• Driving license B manual transmission
• Fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written
• Experience from working in the railway or other roles where safety is crucial (meritorious)
• High safety focus, meticulousness, and enjoyment of taking responsibility
• You enjoy collaborating with your colleagues and contributing to a safe and efficient workflow

Recruitment Process

We use a thorough selection process to ensure that you have the right conditions for the job and to give you a fair chance to show what you can do. We will provide feedback and updates via email throughout the recruitment process.

• Application: You will answer selection questions directly in the application. CV and cover letter are not needed. We ask you to attach a picture of your driving license.
• Web-based pre-test: The test is used to assess whether you have the right conditions to work in an environment where safety is crucial. It looks at abilities such as logical thinking, multitasking capacity, and attention to detail.
• Phone interview: You will schedule a short interview with a recruiter where we will check practical conditions and ask competency-based questions to understand you better as a person.
• Reference check: We will contact two references digitally through Refapp and ask you to attach a picture of your approved high school grades.
• Health check: To work with safety-critical tasks in the railway, two checks are required: - Occupational psychological examination digitally with a psychologist - Physical examination at occupational health care (hearing, vision, blood pressure, alcohol and drug tests, etc.)
• Final interview: You will be invited to a final interview with the recruiting manager, digitally or physically.

The tests and health checks follow legal requirements according to TSFS 2011:19 for work in the railway.
